CAMS supervision calls are hour-long phone meetings for clinicians who have completed CAMS training and are using CAMS and the Suicide Status Form with patients.
During the calls, our expert trainers will answer questions that arise for clinicians.
Questions typically range from identifying when to use CAMS, how to maintain pace through the initial session, creating an effective CAMS Stabilization Plan, identifying drivers of suicide, introducing the CAMS Therapeutic Worksheet, maintaining focus of treatment on drivers, and techniques for treating drivers. Case presentations are encouraged as an additional method to increase clinician’s knowledge base.
For those attending calls as part of a group, calls are an opportunity to receive support and suggestions from those attending the call. Invariably, tips that can be used by all participants are shared by our consultants.
For individuals who contract for supervision calls, case consultation, as well as an opportunity for review of the clinician’s use of CAMS, the Suicide Status Form, and CAMS tools, may be an effective way to increase knowledge and confidence in the use of CAMS.
Implementation and dissemination science has identified supervision calls as a critical factor in sustaining clinicians’ use of a new intervention after completing in-person or online training.

Do you offer CPD points for supervision calls?
No, currently we do not offer CEs for supervision calls. We do add your attendance on supervision calls to your CAMS-care account to qualify you as CAMS TRAINED.
I am using CAMS with my patient but would like to consult with someone at CAMS-care, is that possible?
Yes, we have highly trained and experienced CAMS-care consultants who can consult by Zoom on your case for a single session or over multiple sessions. We are adding the capability, similar to online role-play training, to sign up for supervision calls through our Training Products page. In the meantime, please complete the inquiry form and request information about individual consultation for clinicians.
Do you provide consultation on how to implement CAMS in an organization?
Yes, senior CAMS-care consultants can provide “process improvement” consultation and guidance for the successful implementation of CAMS in systems of care. More information about process improvement consultations is available on our Consulting page.
My organization is not ready for a training, could we arrange to have someone come and do a presentation?
Yes, CAMS-care provides an Education Day overview presentation of the scale of the suicide problem, the research in the field, and the evidence-based treatments available. We have seen many organizations benefit from such presentations which have increased awareness of the need for evidence-based treatments in a system of care and interest in being adherently trained in CAMS.
