Role-Play Training – CAMS Assessment^® & CAMS Treatment^® for Groups

The only authorised source for adherent CAMS suicide prevention training

We offer our Practical Role-Play Training Day for groups remotely through Zoom, using the Zoom Room capability for splitting people into role-play teams, or in-person. Role-Play Training is designed to enhance knowledge regarding the philosophy and theory of the CAMS Framework^® while providing an opportunity for practice in using the CAMS Framework. Our expert CAMS-care UK consultant-trainers will demonstrate the use of CAMS in a live unscripted role-play online video, or onsite training which is based on actual service user experiences. Demonstrations will include the CAMS Assessment^® of a service user and development of the CAMS Treatment^®. Following each demonstration, participants, who pair off, will practice what has just been demonstrated by the consultant-trainers. While participants are role-playing, our trainers “float” from dyad to dyad, supporting their efforts to use CAMS, answering questions, and making helpful suggestions.

This model provides an effective immersive experience in the use of standard CAMS. There are ample opportunities for group discussion and Q&As. Our attendees invariably report that the larger group discussions are useful in providing effective strategies for challenging clinical issues, sharing different techniques and tactics, and consideration of systems-level issues that may occur when implementing CAMS into routine clinical use. While suicide is a serious topic, our experienced and talented trainers bring clinical wisdom, insight, and humour to the training experience. As our trainers demonstrate the clinician’s role in live unscripted role-play demonstrations, there is a shared sense of mutual and collaborative learning that most participants find rewarding, supportive, and even inspiring as the entire training group endeavours to learn how to save lives using CAMS-guided care.

By the end of this training, participants should be fully prepared to begin to use CAMS with suicidal service users. To support optimal clinical outcomes, participation in a series of CAMS-care supervision calls is highly recommended subsequent to completion of the Practical Role-Play Training.

Given the current COVID-19 pandemic, are you offering role-play training remotely?

We have the ability to deliver remote role-play training via Zoom for two-person role-play practice. If you are interested in attending training as an individual, please contact us.

Would you send someone to our organisation to lead a role-play training or do we have to travel to you?

Yes, we would send a consultant to your location to run a role-play training. Please complete the enquiry form and we will be happy to contact you to discuss arranging a training that meets your needs.

We are a small organisation but would like to arrange for our staff to attend role play training. Do you offer training for small groups?

Yes, we have trained groups of less than ten attendees. Please complete our enquiry form with information about your organisation and we will be happy to contact you to discuss the options available.

I am not sure our staff will be able to attend a day-long role play training; does that mean we will not be able to use CAMS with our service users?

No, we have many organisations that opt to complete our integrated training model in CAMS by having staff read the CAMS book, take the CAMS Online Video course, and attend a series of CAMS supervision calls.
