Step 4: Supervision Calls

Putting CAMS into practice, with support

The final step in becoming CAMS Trained is a series of supervision calls. These sessions are designed to help you use the CAMS Framework® safely, confidently, and in line with the model.

Supervision provides structured support as you begin applying CAMS within your service. The supervision is an opportunity to ask questions, reflect on challenges, and learn from others who are also embedding the model into their practice.

CAMS Framework®

What the calls involve

Each call is a 60–90-minute session led by an experienced CAMS-care consultant.

You’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Discuss early experiences using CAMS in your setting
  • Explore practical questions around documentation
  • Reflect on therapeutic interactions and decision-making
  • Troubleshoot common challenges in applying the framework
  • Learn from others at a similar stage in their CAMS journey

Sessions are confidential, with a focus on support and shared learning.

Calls are spaced out over 2 or 3 months to give time for practical use of the model and reflection.

Why supervision matters

CAMS is a structured clinical framework that relies on safe, skilled implementation.

These calls help you:

  • Strengthen your confidence using the Suicide Status Form (SSF)
  • Ensure that you are using the framework with fidelity
  • Adapt CAMS to your service context without losing its core principles
  • Build professional insight and peer support in your ongoing practice

Optional next step: CAMS Education Day

As a further resource for teams implementing CAMS, we also offer an optional Education Day.

This session is designed for wider teams or service leads who want to build shared understanding of the CAMS Framework®.

The Education Day covers an overview of data and theories regarding suicide rates, information about the field of suicidology and suicide prevention. The Education Day can be delivered remotely or on-site and can be tailored to a half-day or full-day session.
