The CAMS Accreditation recognises clinicians who are consistently using the CAMS Framework® with skill, safety and fidelity. It reflects a commitment to delivering high-quality, suicide-specific care, and helps services ensure their approach to risk is structured, collaborative and grounded in evidence.
CAMS Accreditation is the next step for professionals who want to deepen their understanding of the framework, gain structured feedback on their clinical use of CAMS, and demonstrate a confident and consistent application in practice.
The CAMS Framework
What does CAMS Accredited mean?
Accreditation demonstrates that a clinician is:
- Delivering CAMS with fidelity to the framework
- Using the Suicide Status Form (SSF) to structure therapeutic conversations and treatment planning
- Applying CAMS principles consistently across assessment, formulation and intervention
- Able to reflect on and evidence their CAMS work with real service users
It is not a test – it is a supported process that helps strengthen confidence, maintain clinical quality, and contribute to safer outcomes for people in suicidal distress.
Who is a CAMS Accreditation for?
CAMS Accreditation is open to any professional who has completed the full CAMS training pathway, including:
- Pre-course reading
- CAMS Foundational Online Training
- Live role-play training
- Supervision calls
We recommend clinicians pursue accreditation once they have had the opportunity to use CAMS with multiple service users.
The process
CAMS Accreditation involves the submission and review of:
- Two completed Suicide Status Forms (SSFs) – anonymised, and showing CAMS use across multiple sessions
- A brief written reflection on your use of CAMS in practice
- A recorded clinical session (if feasible in your setting) or a reflective case discussion
You will receive structured feedback from an experienced CAMS consultant, focused on adherence to the model, confidence in documentation, and quality of therapeutic engagement.
Criteria to become CAMS Accredited
CAMS Accreditation criteria includes:
- A minimum of 15 CAMS cases completed, with at least 4 full interventions
- At least 10 hours of supervision, including 5 hours of 1:1 supervision with a CAMS-care UK Consultant
- Direct observation of your CAMS work to complete the CAMS Rating Scale
- Consistent use of SSFs across all documentation (initial, tracking, final disposition, stabilisation)
- A reference from your supervising Consultant regarding adherence, ethics, and professional character
